Description 
 
This is a 316’ Fast Monohull RoPax Ferry built in Spain in 1994. It can carry up to 450 passengers in its luxurious interior and up to 84 cars. Classification is DNV. It has a service speed of 35 knots and a max speed of 37 knots. It has very shallow draft allowing to operate in some ports where other deeper fast RoPax ferries cannot berth.

PROPULSION

The vessel is powered by four Caterpillar 3616 medium speed engines each rated at 5,400 kW. The engines drive four KaMeWa water jets through a Voith gearbox. The outboard water jets are utilized for steering and the inboard water jets serve as booster jets when operating at high speed.

CONSTRUCTION

Type of Vessel: 316’ Monohull RoPax Ferry with Deep-V Hull Form

Designed and built by a well-established and Spain’s premier shipbuilder in 1994. At the time of delivery, it was one of the most expensive fast ferries ever built, reportedly costing around USD $25 million. Built to Det Norske Veritas Class DNV +1A1 HSLC R1 Passenger Car Ferry A EO.

It features an aluminum alloy deep-V hull form and longitudinally, the vessel is divided into eight watertight compartments under the vehicle deck. In its current configuration, it offers capacity for 450 passengers and 84 to 105 cars although, should higher capacity be required, it is noted that sister ships subsequently had passenger capacity increased up to 590 passengers.

Safety Equipment 
 
SAFETY

Emergency evacuation arrangements consist of four marine evacuation slides, two on each side, with each slide serving life rafts of 1 x 100 persons and 1 x 50 persons.
