This is a 232' Icebreaker originally built in 1959 as a Canadian government ice class buoy tender and support vessel. It is DNV Ice Class 1A making it suitable for polar operations in strong ice conditions. The ship has been fully refit several times, including a recent upgrade for over $6.0 million. The ship has a large deck crane, a moon pool, a large cargo hold, cabins and berths for 60 on board. There is a helicopter deck (currently uncertified) with a telescoping hangar. Propulsion is from 4 x Fairbanks Morse diesel electric generator engines providing economical fuel efficiency as the ship can operate on any combination of engines depending on weather, sea and load requirements. The ship is well suited for a variety of roles including Polar Expedition Cruise Ship, Research Vessel, Support Vessel, High Latitude Resupply Vessel, Escort Guard Vessel or conversion to an Expedition Yacht.
